The advert above dates from 1947 and shows the first version of this pickup, showing the chrome bar across the pickup’s front (not in the second version), the blunt chicken-head knob and the overlapping cover on the symmetrical pot box. It also helps date the introduction of the Model FHC-C pickup.
Advertisements promoting DeArmond products were placed in relevant music industry magazines and papers such as Downbeat and Musician’s Supply Inc. by the company. A selection of these is shown below, with dates where known.
Some advertisements by Rowe-DeArmond show the address as 1716 Airport Highway, whereas the business number was 1702. This tactic was used to measure the effectiveness of advertising in particular magazines.
DeArmond products were also advertised in catalogs produced by Carvin, Epiphone, Gibson, Gretsch, Guild, Fender, Oahu, Rickenbacker, St. Louis Music Supply, Wexler and many others.
